Following on my successful Triathlon I needed another goal to continue the training, so I shifted focus to pure running, to work on one of those life goals: run a marathon. First though I aimed at something a bit more realistic, the Half Marathon.
Training pushed me to do things I never thought my body would be able to handle, and had its ups and downs, including a bout of tendinitis that required PT and taping up before every run.
My goal was to just finish, with an estimated time around two hours. I followed a reverse split strategy, until about mile ten, where I hit a wall and wasn’t able to push more. I kept running though! 2:15 is a totally acceptable time.
Next year I’ll aim for the full Marathon!
